Memorial Chapel restoration at St Stephen’s

St Stephen’s Art Centre Update May 2026 – The Memorial Chapel is refurbished, the arch repaired and windows replaced. The kitchenette has improved taps and storage. We now have a fridge. A piano has been purchased so that high quality musicians may hire the room.

The works required for drains is being done

A Community Impact assessment has started on 12th June 2026.

The full reordering project, that is disabled access, improved toilets and heating, is dependent on the success of the Meeting Room being used more regularly. The Diocese is supportive of this, particularly given the importance of the Church as a fine example of John Middleton architecture (Grade 2 listed) and the Norman and Beard organ.
