Community Impact Assessment June to August 2026

📣 Welcome to Emma Brown

Emma is a final-year Criminology and Sociology student at the University of Gloucestershire, who will be working with us over the coming few months. Together with Emma, and alongside Dr Omar El Masri (Senior Lecturer in Criminology, Business, Computing & Social Sciences) and Dr Hazel Roberts (Senior Lecturer in Sociology, Business, Computing & Social Sciences), we are undertaking a piece of research to help us explore whether there is sufficient community need for St Stephen’s to consider developing an Arts Project.

Emma brings a strong research background, including experience in both quantitative analysis and qualitative thematic analysis. She also has experience of communication and engagement through student representation and local radio work, and is known for being thoughtful, reliable, and reflective in collaborative settings. Her approach is analytical and evidence-led, with a particular interest in research that can inform practical, real-world decision-making.

The project will involve gathering information from the local community, community groups, and potential hirers, in order to understand what is already available locally, what needs there may be, and what barriers people might face in accessing such a project. Emma will then help us to interpret this data, which will be presented to the Steering Committee for consideration.

We are very pleased to be working with Emma and her academic supervisors on this project, and we are excited about the insight it may bring as we discern next steps together.

If you, or someone/an organisation you know might like to be part of Emma’s research, she can be contacted via email: emmabrown@connect.glos.ac.uk

Please do keep Emma and the team in your prayers 🙏
